About
In recognition of Canada’s 150th anniversary, and as a complement to Prince Harry’s Invictus Games taking place in Toronto in September 2017, local artist Barbara Brown has curated a Military Art Gallery featuring a display of artwork done exclusively by military and ex-military personnel. Ten+ artists are featured in the exhibition. The Military Art displays a range of positive reflections as well as adversity. The artwork aims to bring attention to military service in Canada and showcases the artists in support of their military colleagues. In addition, the artwork is also an attempt to educate the public about the increasing support for services to address military-acquired Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and operational stress injuries. From the curator: "Every military and ex-military personnel has a unique depth of experience and sacrifice beyond civilian life. The gallery is a brief window of military insight for the public."
